Allan Axibal-Cordero

I don’t remember much about kindergarten except that on my very first day, when the teacher introduced me to the entire class – I threw up on myself.  Since then, the first day of all of my classes (even the ones I teach) make me nervous.  我不扔 up anymore, though.

Speaking of food, I did go through a binge eating disorder during the p和emic.  It was very painful, emotionally 和 physically.  But after dozens of challenging conversations with a talented therapist, I unearthed issues of control, perfectionism, 和 self-deprecation that, while useful in trying to pursue a national championship title in public speaking, did cause me some latent harm over the long-run.

So, yeah, I can teach you speech 沟通.  And I’d do a really good job at it, 太.  But if you also want to talk to someone, about nutrition, mental health, acting, comedy, raising children, Fermi’s paradox, interstellar travel, sustaining a marriage, fixing a house, motivational leadership, weight training, running, or the PCC speech 和 debate team…

Then take a class of mine.  Or stop by my office.

I don’t promise to have all the answers.  Just meaningful conversation. 

布丽安娜Broady

你好 there everyone! My name is 布丽安娜Broady (She/Her/Hers) 和 I am so happy that you have chosen to explore 演讲 沟通. I am one of the coaches of our 演讲 和 辩论 Team as well as a faculty lead for our Career 社区 of Arts, 沟通 和设计. Some of the courses that I teach include, 演讲 004, 演讲 13, 演讲 001 和 College 1. I am a former Matador, graduating with my B.A in 沟通 Studies 和 minor in Africana Studies as well as my Masters in 沟通 Studies from California State University Northridge. 

演讲 和 辩论 changed my life 和 helped me get to where I am today. 我强烈 recommend getting involved with campus in some way during your time here, it is a great way to build your network 和 make life-long friends! I always knew that I loved helping people but didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do for a long time. 的那一刻 I entered graduate school 和 I had the opportunity to teach my very own class, I was hooked on teaching! 丹尼尔Chodos

I‘ve been teaching at PCC since 1994, first Acting fundamentals, 和 now, 演讲 1.  I was an actor, dialogue coach 和 writer in Hollywood, working on a wide variety of shows, including "Welcome Back, Kotter” (ABC) 和 “Hunter” (NBC).  但教学 is what I’ve always loved 和 done best.  我有 another job as a Jewish Cantor, but… that’s a whole other story. I’m on my bicycle just about every day; been riding all my life, 和 it’s all the exercise I get.  My wife 和 I live in a high place — anywhere I go, I’ve gotta contend with the uphill home.  In the long run, it’s worth it!

Beville Constantine

I was born 和 raised in Trinidad & Tobago, two isl和s in the Caribbean so I am very used to the beautiful weather in Southern California. In addition to my current position as an Adjunct Professor of 演讲 沟通 at Pasadena City College, I am proud to work as a middle school, high school, 和 community college educator for the past 15 years. I hold a bachelor's in Organizational 沟通 & Public Relations, 和 a master's degree in 沟通 Studies from California State University, Los Angeles. 我有 extensive experience providing individual counseling to students, 和 I enjoy working with diverse student populations, including first-generation college students. In addition to working as an instructor, I participate in shared governance at Pasadena City College while serving as an Academic Senator within the PCC Academic Senate 和 was elected as the PCC 教师 Association Part Time Vice President. As an international educator, I enjoy visiting family in Trinidad & Tobago 和 play soccer as often as possible.

乔什·弗莱明

我有 been a part of the Lancer 社区 full time since 2008. I’m a former Director of Forensics for PCC’s nationally recognized 演讲 & 辩论 team where I served 和 coached for 8 years. I also teach in our 执行 和 沟通 Arts Division’s Theatre Department where I occasionally teach Beginning Acting (THRT 2a), Script Analysis (THRT 9), 和 various workshop 和 mainstage productions (TRT 28 & 29). 我吃过 the pleasure of being the 演讲 Dept coordinator for 5 years prior to becoming the current Dept Chair of 演讲, Theatre, 和 跳舞. My passion in education has always been about exploring the relationship between art & literature with performance & 沟通. When I’m not nerding out over that I enjoy all types of human activities like hiking, camping, 和 the outdoors, movies 和 theatre, 和 cooking. 

社区 college changed my life. When I realized I wanted to be an educator more than I wanted to be a performer I also knew I wanted to put my passion back in to the CC experience. My hope is that taking a course in our 部门 will also help you find your passion as well.

娜塔莉Galindo

大家好！! My name is 娜塔莉Galindo (she/her/hers) 和 I am a proud Latina who has had the privilege of teaching here at PCC since 2015. Many moons ago I graduated from Cal State LA with both my Bachelors 和 Masters degrees. With the help of some amazing faculty there I found my passion for teaching at the college level. 每一个 semester I grow to be a better teacher by learning so much from my students. 在这里 at PCC, I wear many hats as a faculty lead for our Arts,沟通 和设计 Career 社区 as well as teaching a Puente 演讲 001 Course. In addition to teaching, I am a mother of three 和 although life is sometimes hectic, I wouldn’t change a single moment of it. I am still waiting for my superpowers to present themselves 和 really become a super professor!

Jamille Harrell-Sims

When I am not teaching, I am healing others! I am a Clinical Herbalist, Holistic Life Coach, activist 和 I do community work through 我的非营利组织. The loudest sound in the room is silence, 和 the greatest weapon you have is your voice! I love music, hiking, nature 和 anywhere there is water. 我一直 it real 和 I am as down to earth as you are going to get. I am the Ujima 演讲 教练 和 a part of CORE. If you are choosing speech as your major, you are making a great 决定. One cannot, not communicate!

I began my higher education journey at a 社区 College, just like you! 其实我 went to Glendale CC but never earned a degree; I just transferred as a junior to UCLA. I had an interest in many subjects but Sociology was most desirable at the time. 后 earning my Bachelor’s degree, I started working at PCC as a 演讲 Tutor in 2010.

后 working in the 演讲 Department for a few years 和 really enjoying my time working with students, my colleagues 和 I discussed my going back to school to become 一位教授! I went to CSULA to obtain my Master’s in 沟通 Studies in order to teach at the 社区 College level. I graduated in 2015 和 started teaching part-time at PCC 和 CSULA 和 was eventually hired full-time here in 2017! 我一直 working here in some capacity for 10 years now 和 I’ve enjoyed every minute of it! My students 和 colleagues have been a blessing to work with 和 I’m truly lucky to 在这里. When I’m not working, I spend my time with my wife 和 two girls. 我们爱 to be outside, hiking, camping, exercising 和 we love to travel!

桑德拉的女性 trained as a classical actress at LAMDA, 和 has an M.A. 在剧院 from California State University Los Angeles, an M.A. in Clinical Psychology 和 Drama Therapy, 和 an M.F.A. from California State University.  As an actress, she has performed at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, various 百老汇 productions, 和 in a one woman show called Virtuosa 百老汇.  Some of her directing credits include the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Pasadena City College, Long Beach City College, 和 California State University Long Beach.  Some of the plays she has directed at Pasadena City College are Summer 和 Smoke, You Can’t Take It With You, 和 various one acts such as 几乎缅因州 和 月结.  In addition to performing, she has taught voice, speech, dialects, theater history, 和 acting over the past 40 years, 和 is an expert instructor in dialects 和 accent 减少.  She currently teaches at Pasadena City College, the American Academy of 戏剧在L.A., 和 has a private practice in voice, speech, 和 dialects in Los Angeles, 和 coaches performers in film, television, 和 theater, 和 continues to perform.  She is currently certified as a Level I practitioner in the Martin & De Haas Breathing Coordination technique.

辛迪·普，埃德.D (she/her/hers) is a tenured Assistant Professor of 演讲 沟通 in the 部门 of 执行/沟通 Arts at Pasadena City College.  我有 served as the PCC Director of Forensic (演讲 和 辩论) 和 PCC Coordinator of the 演讲 辅导/Learning Center.  In the past 14 years, 我有 taught courses on gender 沟通, interpersonal 沟通, intercultural 沟通, argumentation 和 debate, propag和a 和 persuasion, public speaking, 和 沟通 研究理论.  When I’m not teaching, I can be found negotiating with my tenacious 蹒跚学步的. 

As first-generation college graduate with Chinese-Vietnamese refugee immigrant parents, I was the first of my family to attain an undergraduate, masters, 和 doctoral degrees.  I started a doctoral program at CSUN my child was only four-months-old, 和 this personal experience sparked my research interest in journey of mothering-students of color at the community college.  My current research interest continues to use critical race theory, intersectionality, 和 healing-centered engagement.  我留下来了 active in my advocacy for parenting students through conference presentations, workshops trainings, 和 publications.  I currently serve on the “Women of Color 领导” taskforce steering committee for the International Association of Maternal Action 和 Scholarship (IAMAS) 和 am one of the advisors for the Lancer Parents United parenting 俱乐部.

Carmen Rodriguez

你好! My name is Carmen; I've been a speech instructor at PCC for nearly 10 years. I graduated from Cal State LA in 2007 with my graduate degree in 沟通 Studies. I've also taught at Rio Hondo, Mt. SAC 和 Cerritos College.

I am a first generation Mexicana. My parents are from Mexico so I'm fluent in Spanish 和 I love my culture! Fun fact about me--I know the alphabet in 4 languages--Spanish, English, Greek 和 ASL (American Sign Language). 

I believe 演讲 class is one of the most important classes you can ever take because we communicate ALL the time! If you're teachable 和 open to learning, you can accomplish 任何东西! <3
